Salmon Arm RCMP arrest prolific offender

Police were called to a break and enter in Salmon Arm this morning and arrested a suspect who was also wanted on several other charges.

Salmon Arm RCMP were called to investigate a break and enter into a property in the 2600 block of Eagle Bay Road at around 7 a.m. Nov. 16, according to an RCMP media release.

Officers followed tracks from the first property and discovered two more break and enters to properties in the area.

As police approached the third residence, a man known to police ran from the property while holding break-in instruments.

Police gave chase by foot and caught the man, who was taken into custody for the three break and enters and possession of break-in instruments.

He also faces a charge of driving while prohibited, as he had been the driver of a vehicle which rolled over in a ditch nearby.

Further investigation revealed that the suspect had outstanding arrest warrants for other criminal offences and had been on the run for months.

The stolen items were returned to the property owners.
