Europe’s Ryder Cup victory over U.S. a popular one with Proline sports bettors

Europe held on for a 15-13 victory over the United States on Sunday to continue its dominance in the Ryder Cup.

Europe has captured 11 of the last 14 competitions but earned its first victory on American soil since 2012. And it was a popular win for Proline bettors.

According to the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp., 70 per cent of players backed the European team victory. One wagered $1,400 on Europe and earned $3,300.

Another claimed a $2,640 payout from a $1,100 bet on the Europeans.

Also on Sunday, the Toronto Blue Jays cemented the American League East crown with a 13-4 win over the Tampa Bay Rays. The Jays captured their first division title sine 2015 before Rogers Centre sellout crowd of 42,083 on the final day of major-league baseball’s regular season.

A solid 73 per cent of players picked Toronto to win the game while 85 per cent had the contest going over 7.5 runs. And 86 per cent of wagers had the Jays winning by two or more runs.

In NFL action Sunday, the Detroit Lions were the most wagered team to win, downing the Cleveland Browns 34-10. Ninety-four per cent of players picked Detroit to emerge victorious while 77 per cent picked the Lions to cover the -10.5 point spread.

Meanwhile, the Buffalo Bills remained unbeaten, downing the New Orleans Saints 31-19. Ninety-two per cent of players had the Bills to win but 84 per cent incorrectly backed them winning by 15 or more points as Buffalo -14.5 was the most bet point spread for the week.

The New York Giants registered the biggest upset of the week, downing the Los Angeles Chargers 21-18. Just 14 per cent of players backed the Giants, with one betting $300 on them to win and earning $950.

On Sunday night, the Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys battled to a 40-40 overtime time. Eighty per cent of players correctly picked the game to go over 46.5 total points.

On Monday night, the Miami Dolphins defeated the New York Jets 27-21 while the Denver Broncos got past the Cincinnati Bengals 28-3. Sixty-six per cent of bettors picked Miami to win while 78 per cent backed Denver.

A Proline player received $4,856 from a $70 bet on an eight-game baseball parlay Sunday that included Toronto. Another earned a $1,696 return from a $10 wager on a seven-leg NFL parlay.

And a third had a $1,157 payday from an $80 bet on a four-leg NFL parlay.
