iN VIDEO: A chilling look at Kamloops’ historic Tranquille Sanitorium
The site of the former Tranquille Sanitorium in Kamloops continues to attract attention with its fascinating history and spooky appearance.
Located on ranch lands 13 kilometres west of the city, the worn cluster of buildings was once a sanitorium for tuberculosis patients for half a century, and later an institution for the mentally ill before it closed down in the 1980s.
Numerous stories and videos have been published over the years, including ghost stories surrounding the tunnel system under the buildings that was once used for transporting food, laundry and patients, and dead bodies to the morgue.
The History of British Columbia YouTube channel recently released an entertaining and in-depth exploration of the relic that includes drone footage and historical photographs, along with ghost stories from the tunnels, just in time for the spooky season.
