Donadel named head coach of CF Montréal on a permanent basis

MONTREAL — Marco Donadel has been named head coach of CF Montréal on a permanent basis, the Major League Soccer club announced Tuesday.
Donadel took over as interim head coach on March 24, replacing Laurent Courtois who was fired after an 0-4-1 start to the season that saw Montreal CF score only two goals and concede nine.
The club finished with a 6-10-18 record to sit 13th in the 15-team Eastern Conference.
Donadel, from Conegliano, Italy, joined CF Montréal as an assistant coach on Dec. 29, 2024.
He played for the team as a midfielder from 2015-18.
Before joining Montreal’s staff, Donadel coached in Italy and Russia.
“I am happy to continue my tenure as head coach of CF Montréal,” Donadel said in a release. “I have a long history and great memories with this city. First, as a player and now as a member of the coaching staff. I would like to thank the club for trusting me to continue to lead the squad.”
