RCMP have identified the woman accused of assault for spitting on an employee at a Penticton liquor store this past weekend in a dispute over wearing a mask.

Penticton RCMP Sgt. Jason Bayda says thanks to information provided by the public, the female suspect has been identified.

“Our investigator will be following up with her in short order,” Bayda said in an email today, Nov. 26. RCMP aren't releasing the suspect's name.

The woman allegedly assaulted an employee of the Skaha Lake Liquor Store on Saturday, Nov. 21, at around 1:48 p.m. after being asked to put on a mask.

She is alleged to have spit on the employee and damaged their cell phone.

Police had surveillance camera images of the woman and asked the public for assistance in locating her.
