Jays’ Guerrero, Bichette, Springer named Silver Slugger finalists

TORONTO — Blue Jays star first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is up for a second straight silver slugger award.

Major League Baseball named its finalists for its awards, which are given out annually to the top offensive players at each position in each league, on Friday. Toronto shortstop Bo Bichette and designated hitter George Springer were also named finalists.

The winners, as voted by Major League managers and coaches not including players on their own teams, will be announced Nov. 7.

Guerrero, who also won the AL first-base award in 2021, batted .292 with 23 home runs and 93 runs batted in while striking out just 94 times in 589 at-bats.

Bichette was second in the major leagues with 181 hits despite missing the final three weeks of the regular season with a knee sprain. He posted a .311 average with 18 home runs and 94 RBIs.

Springer is up for his third Silver Slugger award and first since 2019. The 36-year-old had a resurgent season in 2025, posting a career-high batting average of .309 with 32 home runs and 84 RBIs
