Feb. 13, 2013 – 4:43 p.m.
West Kelowna RCMP busted an alleged grow operation at a home at 3456 McTaggart Road today just after 4 p.m.
Const. John Brown of West Kelowna RCMP says police arrived with a warrant for theft of electricity and entered the home where they found four men inside.
Police confirmed theft of electicity via a hydro bypass as well as "an unusually large" amount of plants inside. Police estimate 7,400 plants were inside and of that, some 7,000 are small clones (early, immature marijuana plants).
Const. Brown says four people were arrested and taken to cells. They'll be released on a promise to appear later today.
RCMP and B.C. Hydro as well as the District of West Kelowna were on scene while Hydro disconnects power. Police say that after grow operations homes are uninhabitable. Often electricity is not up to code and cleanup will need to be done for it to be habitable again.
