South Carolina hopes to return of Meechie Johnson will help team bounce back from 12-20 season

South Carolina (12-20, 2-16 SEC)
South Carolina stumbled in the Southeastern Conference last season and things aren’t expected to change this much as the Gamecocks were picked to finish last for the second straight season per media polls. Coach Lamont Paris went from 11 wins in his first season to 26 in his second to earn SEC Coach of the Year honors, but the Gamecocks regressed.
Meechie Johnson has rejoined the Gamecocks after transferring back to the program following a season at Ohio State. He led the Gamecocks’ 2023-24 team in scoring at 14.1 points per game. However, the loss of forward Collin Murray-Boyles to the NBA leaves a major hole.
