Bone dry in Kamloops with only 5 mm of rain in October

Kamloops had a super dry month.
Kamloops has only had 5 millimetres of rain so far in October, that’s roughly 20 per cent of the usual 23 mm of precipitation.
Vernon was dry as well with 19 mm of precipitation, which is about 48 per cent of the normal 41 mm, according to weather data from Environment Canada.
Kelowna and Penticton had 23 mm and 22 mm of rain, respectively, or 75 per cent and 80 per cent.
“These numbers may change as we kind of close out the rest of October,” Environment Canada meteorologist Colin Fong told iNFOnews.ca.
Temperatures have been within half a degree Celsius below normal for Kamloops and the Okanagan.
This Halloween there could be some rain and wind, but Fong said it likely won’t be significant.
“There’s this Halloween storm that’s expected to roll through for Friday. But that’s going to be more of a coastal issue, in terms of wind and rain. So much like the past few storms we’ve been seeing through the month of October, the coast is going to take the brunt of a lot of rain and all that snow,” Fong said.
Apex Mountain Resort near Penticton already has a 26 centimetre snow base with 16 cm falling over the last 24 hours.
Big White Ski Resort near Kelowna also has a 26 cm base with 10 cm falling over the last 24 hours.
SilverStar Mountain Resort near Vernon and Sun Peaks Resort near Kamloops have some visible snow on their webcams but haven’t put out any numbers on snowfall and it’s still several weeks out from the start of the season.
