Cavalry earns return trip to CPL North Star Cup final

HAMILTON — The Calgary-based Cavalry FC have punched their ticket to a third consecutive Canadian Premier League final.

The defending champion Cavalry knocked off regular-season champion Forge FC 1-0 in Sunday’s CPL Contender semifinal at Hamilton Stadium.

Tobias Warschewski scored in the 57th minute for the Cavalry, who will face the host Atletico Ottawa in the North Star Cup final next Sunday.

The Cup is the replacement for the North Star Shield, which was previously awarded to the CPL’s champions from 2019 to 2022.
