NHL veteran Milan Lucic joins Blues’ AHL affiliate on professional tryout

ST LOUIS — Veteran forward Milan Lucic has joined the St. Louis Blues’ AHL affiliate, the Springfield Thunderbirds, on a professional tryout.

The 37-year-old Vancouver native was with the Blues on a tryout during training camp before a lower-body injury kept him out of action. He scored a goal and an assist in four preseason games.

Lucic last played in 2023 with the Boston Bruins before entering the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program following his arrest in a domestic incident. He was charged with assault and battery on a family member, but the charge was dropped when his wife declined to testify.

He was reinstated after completing the program earlier this year.

Lucic has 233 goals, 353 assists and 1,301 penalty minutes in 1,177 career games with Boston, Los Angeles, Edmonton and Calgary.

He was part of the Bruins’ 2011 Stanley Cup championship team.
