WHL Roundup: Fawcett scores equalizer, OT winner for Regina in 4-3 win over Calgary

REGINA — Keets Fawcett scored twice, including the overtime winner, for the Regina Pats in a 4-3 win over the visiting Calgary Hitmen in the Western Hockey League on Tuesday.

Calgary (10-4-1-0) led 3-1 after two periods, but Reese Hamilton pulled the hosts within a goal and Fawcett scored the equalizer for Regina (6-8-1-1) at 17:50.

Julien Maze also scored for the Pats and Marek Schlenker made 27 saves in net.

Harrison Lodewyk, Keaton Jundt and Hayden Schollar were Calgary’s goal scorers and Aiden Hesse made 16 saves in the loss.

In the WHL’s only other game Tuesday, the Kamloops Blazers thumped the Spokane Chiefs 8-2.

Kamloops (8-7-1-2) roared out of the gate with five goals in the first period before Spokane (8-8-0-0) countered in the second.

Rhett Ravndahl and Nathan Behm each scored twice for the Blazers. JP Hurlbert contributed a goal and three assists and goalie Ivan Kufterins 41 saves to the win.

Chase Harrington produced both Chiefs goals. Carter Esler allowed four goals on eight shots in Spokane’s net before he was replaced in the first period by Linus Vieillard, who made eight saves.
