iN VIDEO: RCMP on hunt for suspect after stabbing at Kamloops motel

Police are looking for the suspect in a serious stabbing at a Kamloops motel yesterday afternoon.

Kamloops RCMP was informed that a male had been stabbed multiple times yesterday, Dec. 2, around 5:15 p.m., according to an RCMP release.

Officers urgently responded and an investigation led them to a room at a local motel on the 500 block of Columbia Street.

The victim is known to police and is currently being treated at the hospital for his injuries. A security video captured the suspect leaving the room, and police hope this will help to identify him.

"We believe this to be a targeted incident as the victim is known to have ties to the local drug trade and we are trying to determine if this has relevance to the investigation," Sgt Darren Michels said in a release. "We are hoping that by releasing this video we will be able to ascertain who this suspect is and his identity will further investigation."

Anyone who is able to help identify the suspect or has any information in relation to the incident is urged to call the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-2477.
