Blue Jays’ George Springer wins Silver Slugger award after resurgent season

TORONTO — Toronto Blue Jays leadoff hitter George Springer has won a Silver Slugger award after a resurgent season.

Springer won the award at designated hitter and also received a nomination at outfielder.

The 36-year-old American hit 32 home runs and 84 RBI with a .309 batting average and a .959 on-base-plus-slugging percentage that ranked second in the American League.

His 2025 campaign marked a major turnaround after Springer batted a career-low .220 with just 19 homers in 2024.

A four-time all-star and 2017 World Series MVP, he also won Silver Slugger awards with the Houston Astros in 2017 and 2019.

Springer hit a three-run homer in Game 7 of this year’s AL Championship Series to send the Blue Jays to the World Series, where they lost in a dramatic seven games to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
