Public needed at new health centre meeting tonight at SOEC
By Shannon Quesnel
Penticton-area doctors want the public to make some noise tonight at 6:30 p.m. at the South Okanagan Events Centre.
Area physicians want public support to kick the provincial government into funding its share of a $300-million patient care tower. Tonight will also be a public information session on the pros of a new hospital.
Doctors like Dr. David Paisley want to treat the Penticton Regional Hospital's ills of space shortages and inefficiencies with a new health centre. The new multi-storey building will be built alongside the decades-old hospital.
Hospital medical professionals and administrators have gone above-and-beyond in jury-rigging the hospital to meet modern demands. Space has gotten so tight though, there is one room where the patient's bed has to be turned sideways to open up enough space for the physician.
Making noise was the advice of the Interior Health chair said Paisley.
