Night sky watchers in the Okanagan and Kamloops got a special treat last night when the aurora borealis turned skies all colours, including orange and red.

The celestial event on Nov. 11 seen across the northern hemisphere was thanks to a severe geomagnetic storm caused by multiple coronal mass ejections, or eruptions of the magnetic field and plasma, from the sun, according to Space.com.

A faster coronal mass ejection is on its way with another possible aurora borealis show tonight.
