HALIFAX — Mathieu Barsalou ran in four touchdowns as the Montreal Carabins defeated the Saint Mary’s Huskies 49-19 on Saturday in the Uteck Bowl.

Montreal will now play the Saskatchewan Huskies in the Vanier Cup, U Sports football’s national title game. The game will be played next Saturday at Mosaic Stadium in Regina.

Carabins quarterback Pepe Gonzalez went 18-of-26 passing for 168 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

Enrique Jaimes Leclair was on the receiving end of Gonzalez’s touchdown, while Gregory Mulenda-St-Pierre scored the other rushing touchdown for the RSEQ champions.

The Carabins jumped out to a 22-2 halftime lead before continuing their dominance in the second half.

Their eight points in the opening frame was the only quarter Montreal scored less than 13 points in.

The Huskies defeated Queen’s Gaels 22-11 in Saturday’s Mitchell Bowl on a chilly afternoon in Saskatoon, Sask.

The Huskies led 7-1 after the first quarter and 14-1 at the half.

Huskies quarterback Jake Farrell completed 13 of 24 passes for 149 yards and one touchdown. Ryker Frank rushed for 131 yards on 22 carries and receiver Daniel Wiebe had three receptions for 80 yards and one touchdown.
