PRINCE GEORGE — A bomb squad from British Columbia’s Lower Mainland is en route to Prince George after police there discovered an explosive device while executing a drug-related search warrant.
Prince George RCMP say several homes in the 1600 block of Eighth Avenue in the city have been evacuated due to the discovery.
Police say officers who were conducting the search have also left the home that was being searched and are on site to keep the scene secure while the bomb squad arrives.
No further details on the discovery and the evacuations have been released.
Police say the investigation related to the search warrant is ongoing, and searches will resume as soon as the explosive device is dealt with.
The Mounties say residents can expect officers to remain at the scene until the situation is resolved.
