LYTTON — Police say they are investigating to determine if the cause of a fatal crash near Lytton, B.C., between two tractor-trailers on Highway 1 was criminal.
The BC Highway Patrol say the crash occurred Monday just before 9 a.m., when a northbound Kenworth tractor-trailer towing two empty flat-deck trailers collided with a southbound Volvo tractor-trailer with two enclosed trailers.
The crash happened on Tank Hill Bridge in the Fraser Canyon region.
Police say the 49-year-old driver of the Volvo died at the scene, while the driver of the Kenworth was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators say they have already spoken to some key witnesses in the crash and are considering the “driving behaviour” of both trucks leading up to the collision.
Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or captured dashcam footage to contact investigators.
