Huge crowd shows support for Penticton doctors, new health centre
By Shannon Quesnel
More than 750 people showed up to Penticton's convention centre to support the community's doctors in their effort to get funding for a new health centre.
The South Okanagan Event Centre parking lot was jammed and its conference room was standing room only Wednesday night. Inside the public listened to how Penticton Regional Hospital had run out of room for badly needed medical equipment and how inefficient it is for patients and staff.
The hospital is an old building and does not meet the needs of the modern medical world say Dr. David Paisley and Dr. Brad Raison. They and several other physicians told their audience the need for space is critical and is the reason for holding the meeting in the first place. The gathering is to show the provincial government that area residents need a new $300-million health centre.
