Notorious Kamloops home targeted by drive-by shooting now scorched by fire

A Kamloops residence that was the target of a drive-by shooting two months ago went up in flames on Saturday.

Kamloops RCMP were called to the residence in the 200 block of Willow Street Dec. 12 at 5:46 p.m., according to an RCMP media release. Officers found that the house was engulfed in flames and being suppressed by Kamloops Fire Rescue responders.

The individuals inside the residence were able to escape to safety and no serious injuries were reported. The cause of the fire was 

Neighbour Murray Usipiuk confirmed the same residence had been the target of a drive-by shooting, Oct. 1. 

A vehicle drove up to the Willow Street house and the suspect fired several shots at the home, which was occupied at the time, RCMP said. There were no injuries and suspect David Jeffery Tremblay, 34, was arrested in a Dallas residence shortly after the incident.

Tremblay is facing charges of attempted murder with a firearm, intentionally discharging a firearm into a place knowing a person was present, and failure to comply with a court release order. He is next scheduled to appear in court Jan. 14. 

Usipiuk said the residence on Willow Street is known in the neighbourhood as a problem house, and police have attended on numerous prior occasions.
