‘Indian Road Trip’ filmed around Kamloops, Merritt now available for streaming

An Indigenous comedy filmed around the Thompson and Nicola regions is now available for streaming online.

The Whistler Film Festival is streaming Indian Road Trip, a feature film inspired by life growing up on a reservation, according to a Thompson-Nicola Film Commission media release. The film features local backdrops such as Glimpse Lake, Merritt, Lower Nicola and areas in Quilchena, filmed in May and June of 2017.

Indian Road Trip is the story of two restless young First Nations men who must drive a cranky elder across the reserve to make peace with her sister who is on her deathbed. Along the way a supernatural force tries to stop the journey.

Allan Hopkins is the writer, director and producer of the quirky comedy. Hopkins is part of the N’quatqua First Nation, northeast of Vancouver in Lil’wat traditional territory. He is a former journalist, producer and field director.
