BC’s first electric, trackless passenger train to tour Kelowna waterfront for holidays

A new holiday experience is coming to Kelowna in the form of a trackless, electric, outdoor train tour which is the first of its kind in B.C.

The Dreamer Express starts boarding at the Delta Hotels Grand Okanagan Resort tomorrow, Dec. 3, and it will provide 35-minute rides along Kelowna’s Okanagan Lake waterfront to see the Christmas lights until Jan. 18, 2026, according to a press release.

The train experience was developed by local entrepreneurs Andrea Strang of Juniper Tree Learning, Maegan Young of Purple Rhino Events and Rhonda Hymers of Hymers Private Wealth of RBC Dominion Securities.

“When Vancouver’s Stanley Park train closed, families lost something irreplaceable. It reminded us how precious time together is, how quickly childhood moves, and how impactful shared experiences can be.” Strang said in the release. “We wanted to create something that honours that. A place where shared moments become lasting memories, and an experience that stays with you long after you step off the train.”

It’s a 40-foot train with space for 40 passengers.

The train’s holiday theme is inspired by classic Christmas tales, and it will stick around until Jan. 18.

“From the beginning, we imagined The Dreamer Express to be a signature seasonal experience, the kind you plan your evening around because it feels like something straight out of a holiday movie, whether you are local or visiting the Okanagan,” Strang said.

Ticket holders also get all day happy hour pricing at OAK + CRU in the Delta Hotel.

The Dreamer Express is going to be in the Parade with a Purpose fundraiser for youth mental health and addiction through the KGH Foundation. The sixth annual parade will be held from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6 in downtown Kelowna.

For the parade, the train will take on a Polar Express theme.

“The Dreamer Express adds a new layer of magic to Kelowna’s downtown, an opportunity for families, friends, and visitors to make lasting memories against the backdrop of the Okanagan’s beauty,” Delta Hotels Grand Okanagan Resort general manager Tara Gerald said in the release.

Ticket prices range from $39 for youth 2 to 12 years old, $42.50 for people 65+, $45 for ages 12 to 64, and premium tickets if the first two rows of seats for $65 each. For more information and to buy tickets go here.
