A South Cariboo had its pool and restaurant ordered closed again after repeated health violations.
It came after “progressive” and repeated efforts to close Spruce Hill Resort’s amenities due to public health risks, according to an Interior Health news release issued today, Dec. 5.
Interior Health recommends the public avoid using the pool, hot tubs and restaurant, including its continental breakfast, until the hotel complies.
The 108 Mile Ranch hotel had its food and pool permits expire in March and has been fined, subjected to closure orders and taken to court by the health authority. It’s the first time Interior Health issued a public statement to alert the public of the health risk.
According to health authority records, the hotel was ticketed for violating closure orders in 2024 both in May and August. In June 2025, Interior Health gave Spruce Hill orders to close its pool and hot tubs.
Anyone who suspects they have fallen ill due to swimming, eating or drinking at the resort should contact both their primary health provider and their local health protection office, according to Interior Health.
