Kamloops man arrested after attempted shooting

Kamloops RCMP arrested a suspect in a shooting attempt this morning.

Police responded to a report of shots fired near the 700-block of Notre Dame Drive around 6:10 a.m., Dec. 8, according to a press release from police.

No shots were actually fired and no one was injured.

Officers, with help from Police Dog Services, found the suspect and took him into custody.

A police dog named Nikka found and recovered the firearm used in the attempted shooting.

“Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident as no gunshot round was discharged,” Kamloops RCMP media liason officer Cpl. Dana Napier said in the release.

“Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to please call.”

RCMP say it’s still early in the investigation but they expect to recommend charges to the BC Prosecution Service.

Anyone with information can call Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and cite file 2025-40529.
