VICTORIA – Five members of the Sachdeva family from Surrey, B.C., were wiped out in Sunday's devastating two-vehicle crash in the city.

The BC Coroners Service identified the driver as 31-year-old Pawandeep Arjot, her and her two children, five-year-old Annish Sachdeva and his three-year-old sister Jessica Sachdeva.

Also killed were Arjot's mother-in-law, 68-year-old Vidya Sachdeva and her sister-in-law Neelam Dhingra, aged 47.

The family's vehicle was hit broadside in a Surrey intersection by a Dodge minivan that police believe went through the red light.

All five people were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the van, a 46-year-old man from Langley, B.C., is in hospital and was listed in serious, but stable condition.
