Threatening letters found on Penticton school property

PENTICTON – Mounties want to know who made photocopies of a letter containing a threat located on the grounds of Skaha Middle School and Princess Margaret Secondary School in Penticton Wednesday morning.

The papers were found at 9:15 a.m. Feb. 18 and police were called, according to an RCMP media release. Though Mounties don't believe there's imminent danger to students or staff, they say they are concerned and are taking proactive investigative steps to find out who is responsible.

"Officers have been deployed to several schools as a precaution to ensure continued safety at the schools until a suspect can be identified," RCMP Sgt. Rick Dellebuur said in the release.

School District #67 also provided a media release, stating schools cooperated with RCMP and relevant agencies as outlined in their 'Community Threat Assessment Protocol' to ensure the safety of students and staff, and to identify the threat maker. They also said Mounties went to several schools in the district, and remained on site for the remainder of the school day. As well, schools locked exterior doors with the exception of the main entrance, though it was monitored. Staff was briefed the release said.

Penticton RCMP have released a copy of the threats as written hoping someone will see it and assist them with their investigation. Anyone with information can contact Penticton RCMP at 250-492-4300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.

THE FOLLOWING IS A PHOTO OF THE LETTER THAT WAS PHOTOCOPIED AND LEFT ON SCHOOL GROUNDS. STRONG LANGUAGE ADVISORY:

  1. It is wonderful seeing the posts that are filled with concern for this child. Lets hope they find this tormented little soul and help them believe in the power of love again…before we loseanother one.

Poverty is real. It makes people feel despondent and hopeless. I sincerely hope that the authorities can find this young person before it escalates. I agree, that it is a cry for help otherwise he would have just acted instead of sending warning signals. Obviously his/her mental health is deteriorating and needs an intervention. Meanwhile our government is focusing on passing bills to further limit our rights and freedoms. We need more inclusivity not alienation, give all people support so that people don’t feel desperate. And its not just governments, we as a society could all be a little kinder.

Hate to say it but this sounds like someone trying to rap. There is a certain angst and flow to it.

  4. This letter is a full on decoy , don’t bite to the bait. This could be anyone and all the info is a misleading ploy to throw off investigators. Sisnt no someone wants to get famous for being a brat puke with zero balls between his legs. Pussies hide behind guns , warriors respect and fight fair. Don’t believe the hype. If someone wants to do something they just do it. Not a want to be g money letter like this. I wouldn’t be surprised if behind this is a very educated individual throwing a curve ball. Fight fir pussy.

  5. wefare needs to be changed…they make you pay your rent out of your support money and then the bills as well and by the time that’s done there is no extra money for the kids especially the way the prices of stuff is now adays..if the aren’t wearing the latest fashion they are picked on…….kids clothes should be free….maybe they wont feel soo bad that threats need to start….the world is not a good place anymore unless you are rich no one will change that unless the low income people start speaking out for themselves…hopefully change will come for our future generations sake.

  6. sounds like a kid reaching out cause he/she feels like life sucks…..find the parent in a wheelchair and you will probably find who wrote the letter…..I pray this child gets help….

  7. The writer needs to be found and it shouldn’t be difficult considering his mom is in a wheelchair on Welfare. The poor teenager is crying out loud now instead of continued silently, his anger is justified and the outcome is shown on paper, lets help him before the outcome is violence on people through his threat.

  8. he should start selling drugs like all the other poor kids in school instead of killing the innocent kids.

  9. How many moms are in wheelchairs? It should be a manageable list to start to find the child. Then they can get him or her some help. Even if it’s a hoax the kid still needs help.

Other than it appears that this person needs a lot more schooling… I can understand his or her frustration. “It doesn’t justify violence” but the local, provincial and federal governments really need to look at what type of generation ofpeople we are building. No jobs, no future, no self respect.. the governments aren’t looking at the long term affects they are causing. We are in the days when most people in Canada are living on welfare, going to food banks and unable to find a job… How long does the government think they can last financially with handing money out to people because they can’t find jobs? Doesn’t the government realize that working people pay taxes that keep the country going… Maybe what we should do and decrease the politicians salaries belong the level of poverty and see how fast they change the way they are doing business.
