LONGUEUIL — For the second time in less than a week, a woman in her 80s has died after being found alone outside at night in the Greater Montreal area.
An 84-year-old woman was found on a suburban street by a snow clearing operator about 3:15 a.m. in Longueuil, just south of Montreal.
Police say attempts were made to revive her before she was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.
According to Environment Canada, the weather was about -5C with light snow around the time she was found.
Longueuil police say the 84-year-old woman lived with family in a nearby home and managed to leave without anyone noticing.
In a separate incident, an 88-year-old woman found dead outside a retirement home north of Montreal early on Monday morning.
Police say the woman was found near the Villagia de l’île Paton, a luxury residence in Laval, Que.
Both deaths have triggered investigations by a coroner and police say the Longueuil family is also being offered counselling to deal with the loss.
This report by The Canadian Press was first published Dec. 11, 2025.
