Whizzing through the winter air in a horse-drawn sleigh is a favourite holiday thrill and there are several places to enjoy it in the Thompson-Okanagan region.
Here are a few places to bundle up and go dashing through the snow to the sounds of horse hooves clomping and jingle bells ringing with friends and family.
Big White Ski Resort near Kelowna takes riders through an enchanting winter wonderland along forest trails every winter. Guests can go on a one hour or half hour ride, or opt for a private, romantic tour. Also available is a ride that incorporates a fine dining experience.

Caravan Farm Theatre near Armstrong is performing A Midwinter Night’s Dream this holiday season, where guests are pulled in horse-drawn sleds around a large acreage from stage to stage, taking in poetry, acting and music. The sleigh ride lasts for an hour and guests can warm up around crackling fires or visit the horses after.

On a big farm in Pritchard, just east of Kamloops, long-time horse driver Ellen Hockley is getting her team geared up for a fun season of dashing through the snow. The operation is snow dependent and runs throughout the season into March. Her team of horses are adorned with jingle bells.
The rides run during the day between 10:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. and reservations can be made here.

The gentle draft horses at Sun Peaks Village near Kamloops are pulling guests along snowy lit-up trails this winter all the way until April. Guests are invited to snuggle under blankets and take photos of the sights around the resort’s village.
