Police suspect foul play in woman’s death in Merritt, B.C.

SURREY — Police in British Columbia are investigating after a woman died under what investigators are calling “suspicious” circumstances.

RCMP say in a release that police were called Saturday to assist paramedics responding to a woman in medical distress in Merritt, B.C., located about 270 kilometres northeast of Vancouver.

Police say the victim in her 20s died at the scene despite emergency responders’ efforts.

No details of her injuries or the circumstances were released, but RCMP say foul play is suspected in the case.

It says major crime investigators have taken over the case and the investigation in ongoing.

Police are urging anyone with information on the death to contact investigators.
