Police arrested three suspects in Kamloops on Monday after an abduction report led to a car chase.
Kamloops RCMP received a report about an abduction that gave a description of a truck and a license plate around 7 p.m., Dec. 22, according to a press release from police.
Officers found the truck on the North Shore and tried to pull it over. The truck fled and almost crashed into a police car.
Police believed it was a high-risk situation so the RCMP decided to chase the vehicle.
The chase was short and the vehicle was pinned near the 200-block of Tranquille Road.
“Police Dog Services was requested to assist,” Kamloops RCMP media liaison officer Cpl. Dana Napier said in the release.
“When it was safe, contact was made with a police vehicle and the suspect vehicle which resulted in demobilizing the truck and damaging a police cruiser.”
Police found that no one was actually abducted.
There were three people in the vehicle and all three were arrested. One suspect went to the hospital to be assessed and they were released from custody.
The investigation continues, but police expect to recommend charges for the driver who is still in custody.
