We’re about to wrap up another year under Premier David Eby’s NDP government, and people are giving his government mixed reviews.

When more people approve than disapprove of how the government is handling something it’s usually by a pretty slim margin. When the government’s handling of something is unpopular, it tends to be widely unpopular.

Here are the numbers from a recent Angus Reid survey on how people feel about the provincial government:

8: Per cent of British Columbians think the provincial government is doing a good job of handling homelessness and poverty. It’s the lowest score for any issue the pollster asked about.
43: Per cent of British Columbians think the provincial government is doing a good job of handling highways and transportation. The highest score of any issue the pollster asked about.
44: Per cent of British Columbians said the provincial government is doing a poor job of handling Trump’s tariff war.
0: Per cent of British Columbians said the province is doing a “very good job” dealing with the cost of living and inflation. BC is the only province where no one ticked that box on the survey.
33: Per cent of BCers said the provincial government is doing a good job on education.
81: Per cent of British Columbians said the province is doing a bad job at handling the drug crisis.
74: Per cent of British Columbians said the province is doing a bad job on crime and public safety.
6: Per cent of British Columbians said First Nation concerns are the top issues facing the province.
40: Per cent of British Columbians said the province is handling First Nations issues well.
3: Per cent. That’s the lead the BC NDP had over the BC Conservatives before John Rustad stepped down as party leader.
