Boxing Day finale to air as Kamloops-born actor leads spicy TV hockey drama

Fans are gearing up for a Boxing Day finale as a Kamloops-born actor leads what has quickly become the hottest show on TV.

Heated Rivalry stars Kamloops-born Hudson Williams as Shane Hollander, a pro hockey player who harbours a secret romance with a rival all-star player.

Quickly becoming an international sensation, the gay romance has earned celebrated reviews, with no shortage of steamy scenes as it explores queer identity and sexuality in the hyper-masculine world of hockey.

Heated Rivalry‘s first season closes out on Dec. 26 after receiving critical acclaim and becoming Crave’s most-watched original series yet.

After growing up in Kamloops, then studying at Langara College, Williams has appeared in short films and played single-episode roles in TV shows like Tracker and Allegiance. Heated Rivalry, based on the novel by Rachel Reid, marks his breakout starring role.

The first season centres around Williams’s character and his secretive romance with Russian player Ilya Rozanov, who is played by American actor Connor Storrie.

On Dec. 12, Bell Media announced the series was approved for a second season, but it’s not clear when production will start.
