Below freezing temperatures in recent weeks have allowed for some interesting ice formations on objects and waterbodies in the Thompson-Okanagan region.
Several South Okanagan residents are having fun taking photos of the Memorial Fountain located near the Osoyoos bridge this week, capturing the frozen fountain from different angles in sunsets and on bright, winter days. Located at the beginning of Pioneer Walkway, the fountain is reminder of the sacrifices of locals who died in war. When frozen, the fountain is shrouded in long icicles.
Shuswap Lake is another popular place to find interesting ice formations. The lake has four arms extending through the Shuswap, its shoreline dotted with recreational lakeshore communities. Every winter, docks, equipment and picnic tables become encased in ice creating artistic formations.
