RCMP say reports of shots fired in Vernon unfounded

Reports of shots fired in Vernon late last night have been determined to be false.

Vernon North Okanagan RCMP said officers were dispatched following a report of shots were fired at around 11 p.m. yesterday, Dec. 28.

However, the RCMP said in an email that after numerous neighbourhood enquiries were conducted, the report was determined to be false.

RCMP said no victims were located and no one witnessed or heard any shots.

RCMP did not say which area of Vernon police were called to, but a post to a community group on Facebook said a police presence was seen around Pleasant Valley Road and Rimer Road.

Ben Bulmer

After a decade of globetrotting, U.K. native Ben Bulmer ended up settling in Canada in 2009. Calling Vancouver home he headed back to school and studied journalism at Langara College. From there he headed to Ottawa before winding up in a small anglophone village in Quebec, where he worked for three years at a feisty English language newspaper. Ben is always on the hunt for a good story, an interesting tale and to dig up what really matters to the community.
