TOWSON, Md. (AP) — Jason Rivera-Torres’ 21 points helped Monmouth defeat Towson 62-48 on Saturday night.
Rivera-Torres added six rebounds for the Hawks (7-8, 1-1 Coastal Athletic Association). Andrew Ball scored 12 points and added eight rebounds. Stefanos Spartalis shot 5 of 7 from the field to finish with 10 points.
The Tigers (8-8, 0-3) were led in scoring by Dylan Williamson, who finished with 11 points. Towson also got 10 points from Jaquan Womack. Tyler Tejada had nine points.
A 14-2 run in the first half gave Monmouth a nine-point lead. The teams entered the break with Monmouth ahead 25-22, while Rivera-Torres scored nine points. Monmouth took the lead for good with 16:04 left in the game. Ball scored 12 second-half points.
