The Kamloops RCMP is investigating a potential homicide after a man was found dead in his home in the West End.
Officers went to a wellness check on Dalgleish Drive when they found Muhammad “Ash” Zafar dead inside the home on Jan. 5, according to a news release.
Police are treating the investigation as a homicide based on the evidence so far. The RCMP said the death appears to be isolated and there is no reason to suspect a risk to public safety.
The area is secure while investigators look over the scene.
The Serious Crime Unit is working to establish a timeline for Zafar’s movements and interactions leading to his sudden death.
“We are asking anyone who had recent contact with Mr. Zafar, or who may have information about his social network, activities, or associates, to reach out to investigators,” Staff Sgt. Kevin McIntyre said in the release. “Even small details can assist us in understanding the events leading up to this incident.”
Police want to speak with anyone who saw or spoke to Zafar between Jan. 2 and 5, anyone who saw any unusual activity on Dalgleish Drive or in the West End and anyone who knew Zafar who hasn’t spoken to officers yet.
Anyone with information can call Kamloops RCMP at 250‑828‑3000 and reference file number 2026‑388. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 1‑800‑222‑TIPS (8477).
