Kelowna earns mention in CNN’s 21 Places to Visit list

Once the border is re-opened to US travellers, their attention may be turned to Kelowna, thanks to a brief mention in CNN’s 21 Places to Visit in 2021.

CNN’s list of travel recommendations spans the globe and dips liberally into Canadian hotspots.

"Skiing, surfing, hiking, polar-bear spotting and Northern-lights sighting. Eclectic cuisine, world-class shopping, a diverse and rich culture. This is Canada," the article states.

The laid-back visitor has a bevy of chill choices, according to CNN, and  “Kelowna, a picturesque lakeside wine country” is among those that make that cut.

Beyond Canadian hotspots, the list also touches on Antarctica, Disney Parks, Dubai, Egypt, France, Ghana, Greece, Grenada, Hawaii, Italy, Japan, Maldives, Mexico, New Zealand and more.

They acknowledge that much of this travel itinerary is wishful thinking, for the time being.

“With most of the planet still in the grips of the pandemic and vaccines a long way off for so many of us, travelling for pleasure could be thought of as at best foolish, at worst, downright risky,” CNN writes.

“One thing we do know, however, is that this situation isn't forever.”
