Hamilton Tiger-Cats release veteran American defensive lineman Casey Sayles

HAMILTON — The Hamilton Tiger-Cats released American defensive lineman Casey Sayles on Thursday.

Sayles, 30, spent the last three seasons with Hamilton. He appeared in 51 regular-season games, recording 122 tackles, 18 sacks, and one forced fumble.

Sayles was an Eastern Division All-CFL selection in 2023 and ’25. He appeared n 17 regular-season games last year, registering 34 tackles, four sacks, and one forced fumble.

The six-foot-three, 290-pound Sayles began his CFL career with Winnipeg (2021-22).

Hamilton also released Global punter Nik Constantinou and American receiver-returner Isaiah Wooden Sr. to pursue NFL opportunities. Constantinou is expected to sign soon with the Cleveland Browns.

Constantinou, 26, average 47.6 yards over 192 punts in two seasons (36 regular-season games) with Hamilton. The Ticats selected the Australian in the first round, fifth overall, of the ’24 Global draft.

Wooden, 25, spent parts of the last two seasons with Hamilton. He appeared in 14 regular-season games, returning 38 punts for 570 yards (15-yard average) and one touchdown as well as 45 kickoffs for 1,185 yards (26.3-yard average) and two TDs.

Wooden also had two catches for 22 yards.

Blue Bombers sign veteran Cadwallader to contract extension

WINNIPEG — The Winnipeg Blue Bombers signed veteran Canadian linebacker Tanner Cadwallader to a two-year contract extension Thursday.

The five-foot-11, 216-pound native of Georgetown, Ont., was slated to become a free agent in February.

Cadwallader returns for a sixth season with Winnipeg. The former Wilfrid Laurier standout was third on the club in special-teams tackles last year with 14.

Cadwallader, 28, hasn’t missed a game with Winnipeg since his rookie season in 2021. He has registered 68 career special-teams tackles to stand 12th in club history, just four short of cracking the top-10.
