Kamloops cops look for suspects in a pair of arsons

Police are looking for two suspects in a pair of arson investigations in Kamloops and Tk’emlúps.

The first fire happened after a man and a woman allegedly cut through a chain link fence in the 700-block of Athabasca Street around 2:06 a.m. on Jan. 7, according to a press release from police.

The duo broke into a storage facility and stole around $4,000 worth of tools. Before they left the pair poured gasoline onto wood and set it on fire.

The second arson happened a few days later around 12:12 p.m. on Jan. 11. The same suspects climbed a fence into a secure compound and set a pallet and a cardboard box on fire in the 600-block of Kingston Avenue.

“Video footage from both incidents indicates the same alleged suspects may be responsible for both fires,” Cpl. Dana Napier said in the release. “Kamloops Fire and Rescue fire investigators, and our Forensic Investigation Services are supporting both investigations.”

The suspects are a man wearing black winter coat, black glasses, grey facial hair and a woman wearing checkered purple and black jacket and winter boots.

Anyone with information has been asked to contact RCMP at 250-828-3000 or 250-314-1800 cite files 2026-1054 and 621.
