Two suspects arrested after Vernon business break-in

Vernon RCMP have a pair of suspects in custody after an early Sunday morning business break-in.

Officers were called to a report of a break-in at an unidentified business in the 1200 block of Kalamalka Lake Road at approximately 5:30 a.m. Jan. 11, according to an RCMP media release.

When the business owner arrived they found a broken door and two people inside.

The suspects took off on foot and the owner called RCMP.

Police caught up the suspects in Polson Park near downtown but when they saw the officers they tried to get away again.

After a quick foot chase, the Vernon residents were arrested.

Jacob William Bergen, 35, and Nicholas Cancelliera, 48, were remanded in custody following their arrests. Bergen is scheduled to appear in court for a bail hearing today, while Cancelliera’s hearing is scheduled for tomorrow, according to court documents.
