PRINCESS ANNE, Md. (AP) — Dorion Staples and Zion Obanla each scored 20 points as Maryland-Eastern Shore beat Coppin State 70-67 on Saturday.
Staples went 8 of 12 from the field (4 for 8 from 3-point range) and Obanla made 6 of 8 and 8 of 8 from the free-throw line. Justin Monden had 14 points and shot 4 for 7 (2 for 3 from 3-point range) and 4 of 5 from the free-throw line for the Hawks (8-13, 4-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference).
Nelson Lamizana led the Eagles (3-18, 1-3) in scoring, finishing with 16 points and seven rebounds. Torrin Andrews added 13 points for Coppin State. Hassan Perkins also had 10 points and two steals.
