Tegan Quin, Booktoker Morgann Book among Canada Reads panelists for 25th edition

TORONTO — Musician Tegan Quin and BookTok influencer Morgann Book are among the Canadians stepping up to the plate for this year’s iteration of Canada Reads.

The 25th edition of the CBC competition series will see notable Canadians argue that their book pick will build bridges.

Quin is set to defend “The Cure for Drowning” by Loghan Paylor, a work of historical fiction that centres queer Canadian characters.

Meanwhile, Book will champion Joss Richard’s “It’s Different This Time,” a second-chance romance about two former roommates in New York City.

Actor and filmmaker Elle-Máijá Tailfeathers will argue for “A Minor Chorus” by Billy-Ray Belcourt, the story of a queer Indigenous doctoral student’s return home to northern Alberta, while actor Josh Dela Cruz, who recently became a Canadian citizen, is set to defend the psychological thriller “Foe” by Iain Reid.

Hockey commentator Steve “Dangle” Glynn is set to argue on behalf of “Searching for Terry Punchout” by Tyler Hellard, a novel about a sports journalist’s quest to write an article about his reclusive hockey star father.
