BURNABY — A man has been killed in Burnaby, B.C., in what police are describing as a targeted shooting linked to gang conflict in the province.
RCMP say police responded to calls about shots being fired on Canada Way at around 5:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon
Officers found an injured man, who died at the scene despite emergency life-saving efforts from responders.
Police also found a burning vehicle on Buxton Street shortly after the shooting, and investigators say early investigations reveal that it is linked to the shooting death.
Investigators have identified the victim as 28-year-old Dilraj Singh Gill of Vancouver, who was known to police, adding that early indications suggest the shooting was likely targeted with no increased risk to the public.
Homicide investigators have taken over the case and are asking for anyone with information or dashcam footage of nearby areas to come forward.
