VEYSONNAZ — Canada’s Reece Howden was back atop the podium at a ski cross World Cup on Saturday and Marielle Thompson took bronze on the women’s side.
Germany’s Tim Hronek and France’s Melvin Tchiknavorian took silver and bronze, respectively, in the men’s final.
Italy’s Simone Deromedis finished off the podium.
In the women’s final, Germany’s Daniela Maier won gold and Austria’s Sonja Gigler earned silver.
Howden, from Cultus Lake, B.C., has 22 career World Cup victories. It helped the Canadian widen his overall lead in this season’s tour standings.
His 533 points is 223 ahead of Deromedis, his next closest competitor.
Thompson, from Whistler, B.C., is returning to form after suffering a torn knee ligament at the tail end of last season. She won Olympic gold at the 2014 Sochi Games.
