Investigators looking for tips on anniversary of Kamloops homicide

The body of an 18-year-old high school student was found in a Tk’emlups parking lot four years ago and RCMP have marked the anniversary with a request for help from the public.

Jagraj Dhinsa was a student at Sa-Hali Secondary school when his body was discovered in the shared parking lot of Qwemstin Health Clinic and St. Joseph’s Church on the Tk’emlups Reserve on Jan. 29, 2022.

Dhinsa was linked to a 2014 Honda Accord that was found on Dallas Drive near Lafarge Road in Kamloops.

The BC Coroners Service confirmed he was the victim of a homicide. RCMP have yet to release his cause of death.

The investigation into his death continues four years on.

“This homicide was a senseless act of violence, and the investigation remains a priority for the (Southeast District Major Crime Unit),” unit commander Staff Sgt. Jason Smart said in a media release issued today, Jan. 29.

“It is important to the police, the administration of Justice, and for the public at large, that the person or persons responsible for this death be held accountable. Solving this homicide is also of critical importance for Mr. Dhinsa’s family to have closure.”

Investigators are requesting that anyone with information his Dhinsa death, or anyone who had dealings with him, or knowledge of his activities or whereabouts in January 2022, to contact the BC RCMP Southeast District Major Crime Unit information line at 1-877-987-8477.
