A traffic stop last month ended with the execution of a search warrant at a Kamloops home Tuesday and the seizure of firearms, ammunition, drugs and cash.
RCMP said its “targeted” investigation began following a traffic stop, Jan. 3, and it led to the raid at a home in the 200 block of Tamarack Avenue, Feb. 3.
Officers found 19 firearms, a significant quantity of ammunition, illegal drugs and some cash. RCMP won’t say how much cash.
A man associated with the property was arrested before the search and he has been released from custody. No word from police on what charges he’s facing.
“By removing guns from the streets, we are taking proactive steps to reduce the potential for violent crime and enhance public safety,” RCMP Sgt. Jason Pole with the crime reduction unit said in a media release.
RCMP are encouraging anyone with information regarding criminal or gang-related activity to contact Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 or remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
