Lillooet couple score $2.5M lottery win

A couple from Lillooet are splitting the $5 million jackpot with someone in Quebec after matching six numbers playing Lotto 6/49.

Rene L. and Brittany C. are $2.5 million richer after a ticket bought in Quebec also matched the Classic Jackpot winning numbers. The BC Lottery Corporation no longer makes the last names of lottery winners public.

“My first thought was ‘No!’ and then I jumped up and showed Brittany,” Rene said in a BCLC media release issued, Feb. 9.

“Brittany thought I was playing a trick on her and wanted to go to the store to check if it was real.”

They did so and verified it was real.

The couple plan to pay off their mortgage and go house hunting for their dream home.

“We can enjoy life and spend more time with our kids,” Brittany said.
