Baltimore Orioles sign former Blue Jays pitcher Bassitt to one-year deal

BALTIMORE — Free-agent right-hander Chris Bassitt is joining the Baltimore Orioles on a one-year deal, leaving the Toronto Blue Jays after three seasons, according to multiple reports Wednesday.

ESPN’s Jeff Passan was first to report the agreement, which is valued at US$18.5 million.

The contract is pending a physical and includes a signing bonus and incentives.

Bassitt went 11-9 with a 3.96 ERA over 170 1/3 innings for Toronto last season.

He also moved to the bullpen during the playoffs, allowing one run across 8 2/3 innings.

Bassitt signed a three-year, $63 million contract with Toronto ahead of the 2023 season and went 37-31 with a 3.89 ERA during his tenure.
