Lane closures start early for Brier

KAMLOOPS — The Tim Hortons Brier is less than 10 days away and the city has started preparing for the large amount of traffic by closing the curb lane on Lansdowne Street by Memorial Arena as of today.

Directly behind the arena the curb lane will be closed from Feb. 19 through March 11 to allow for the loading and unloading of equipment, food and beverages for the Brier Patch festivities taking place there.

More directional signage will also be erected to help pedestrians find their way between Memorial Arena and Interior Savings Centre, the two key venues for the Brier.

Residents are reminded that there will likely be added vehicle and pedestrian traffic throughout the city so be safe and obey all signs and traffic signals when out, especially between the curling championship from March 1-9.
